Established on May 1, 1971, Duncan Electric Motor was incorporated in British Columbia, Canada on Vancouver Island in April of 1972. Its success is mainly contributed to the continuous support by the industry in that area. The company is one hundred percent Vancouver Island owned and operated. The total source of income arrives from sales and services of electrical apparatus in two locations, at Campbell River and Duncan, B.C.

Harold, our Campbell River manager, was born in Vancouver, B.C. and moved to Vancouver Island in 1971. At this time (age 13), he took interest in electric motors and has enjoyed working with them ever since.

Gene, the company C.E.O., took his training at Siemens' STADT Berlin Germany, and has lived in B.C. since 1956.

All journeymen motor technicians are local employees and have been trained in our Duncan and Campbell River plants. Some have been employed here for more than 25 years. All are B.C.I.T and AB S.A.I.T Certificate holders with high grades. The company employs eleven people.

Our Work History

		July 2003 Nile Creek Duncan Electric Motor is assisting BC Hydro in maintaining the 500,000v transmission line with C02 ice blasting.
		On-Site Rewinds Complete rebuilds and rewinds: one of four motors recently completed up-rating unit life with the latest the technology industry has to offer.
		Powell River Rotor rings for this 30 Mega Watt Vertical Hydro Generator are machined in place.
		Rush Repair 48 hour turnaround of complete overhaul. GE 600 HP, 260/760 RMP, CD6887, 600V, ODP.
		Powell River 28,200 HP Drive Motor for cycle converter. Emergency service call re-machining rotor rings in place.
		New Rings In-house manufactured new rings for 50 Mega Watt Generator – BC Hydro VIT.
		Shaft Rebuilds Here is a typical drive shaft in-house rebuild. To avoid premature fatigue failure, we find this practice most rewarding. The job entails: shaft pre-machining, preheating, total area welding, re-machining, cutting new keyway, machine finish, and ultrasound testing.
		Frozen Shaft Fitting frozen shaft made in-house, installed into rotor of 5,000 HP refiner.
		Babbitt Bearings We re-babbitt new bearings in nickel genuine, or harris high pressure.
		Coast Guard Marine Propellers Stainless steel, 54" diameter, dynamically balanced.
		Inpro Seals Installed by Duncan Electric Motor as per customer request CGE 200 HP @1185 RPM 447T, 575V, TEFC. Motors will meet IEEE 841 requirements.
